Hey, super excited that you’re at VanCAF! Maybe I’ll actually drag myself down there to see you, and Michael Nicholl Yahgulnaas - love him, and all the other amazing comic artists. Congrats on that run, and feeling centred in that place. And so very sorry to hear that a family member is not well. Best wishes for their healing. Will turn on some Radiohead, one of my favourite bands, and share in the beautiful music of quietly sad.
I recently lost a close friend unexpectedly, it feels like everything has been shaken to the floor, and the task is now to pick THE STUFF all up again. I HIGHLY recommend Damon Albarn's solo album 'Everyday Robots', for melancholy on a loop.
Indeed, the new Gorillaz album, there's some YEARNING shot deep through that one too.
I almost punched the screen when I saw the drawing of the medical devices. Not at all you, just a flashback to my mom’s last ICU stay before she passed.
The tranquility bubble had been burst so all the beeps and shhhssts and such were drowning and constant and I put myself on duty to mute the machine the few times my mom was finally able to get some rest in-between constant nurse and doctor visits.
I never could get into voluntarily listening to sad songs! There was one that made me cry and it hurt so good: Christina Aguilera’s “Hurt.”
It was so beautiful! And sad! And it huuuurt but I loved it!
But I haven’t felt that urge to put myself through it again.
Congrats on the half marathon! And your cathartically sad playlist!
I cry every time I see Sigur Rós (my fave) and my husband always has to do the "there, there" awkward shoulder pats so I feel supported but also not pulled out of the experience 😆 we're also seeing boygenius this summer, can't wait for both of us to be dabbing our eyes with tissues frantically pulled out of various pockets 😂
Hi - I saw you in Amy’s workshop and excited that you will be at VanCaf. I am also from Vancouver and have been enjoying your posts. See you on May 20.
I have an unreal Boygenius addiction

Yesssss, sad girl summer represent!
I listen to the same bands -- do you by chance get recommended a collection of playlists on Spotify called "Sad Girl Starter Pack"?
I honestly didn't even realize I listened to sad music until Spotify started mocking me for it.

“In the ghetto” and “Tiny dancer” are the only two sad songs I need.
I’m sorry that you’re going through a rough time; and, I wish your family member a speedy recovery.
I can relate to listening to sad music. I find emotional / depressing movies to be very cathartic as well.
Hope things get better soon. ❤️
Omg! Are u going to the National’s concert at Madison Square Garden?! 😃😃😃😃
