DISCLAIMER - I’d certainly THOUGHT about the content of the show for longer than this, but the 14 days refers to the physical work of assembling all the parts the show on my own and it was barely enough time, ha ha.
The start
At VanCAF in May, I met Gabe, the owner of Lucky’s who asked if I would be interested in showing art in their new gallery space. About a year ago, they expanded from a very small quaint location to a beautiful bright spot with two big book rooms connected by a gallery. I’ve never shown art before, except at the open studios at my dreamy French residency so I was like YES, I will absolutely take this chance to do this in my favourite bookstore in town that carries the best eclectic selection of children’s books, comics, zines, novels and Magic The Gathering cards!!
I finally contacted Lucky’s in September to confirm a show opening date of November 23. I did some things like learning to use a new paint palette in anticipation of potentially making some big new paintings for the show, but didn’t think much past that. And then I went to Austin and New York and thereafter was busy with other deadlines until November. Because I am *master of delusion,* I knew I would get this done no matter how long I put off preparations. There simply was no other option! :)
