Hello all,
I did this cartooning presentation/demo with Opus Art Supplies, my favourite local art supply store, all the way back in March 2023. They very kindly sent me a copy of the recording, which i HAD intended to make available on Substack, but didn’t get around to doing until now.
In the first 24ish minutes, I talk about my background and career path, and “how to cartoon” broadly (based on my own experiences/beliefs). I then do a drawing/art supply demo while continuing to chat and answer questions from the Zoom viewers.
It’s a little strange watching this again, as it’s almost three years old — this version of myself is brimming with an idealism/naïveté that feels so of-the-time (ah, early 2023), and my creative priorities have already changed so much — but, that’s a conversation for another day. I hope it can still serve as a resource for anyone who’s curious about how I work and my fledgling experience in this industry.
