Still preparing for the art show on Saturday! I’ll be joined by friend, cartoonist, and Juno Award-winning comedian Jacob Samuel!
Come in from the rain, enjoy a drink, look at art, and listen to these two big brains share a microphone.
Do you wanna help distribute flyers, or display one in your place of work?? you can download and print the files here!
This past week, I went through my closet of old sketchbooks to try to find original comics I might like to hang in the show.
I found a lot of little gems
and a bunch of diary comics I’d totally forgotten about, despite the drawer being labelled as such. I just hadn’t looked at it in YEARS.
Back then I was trying the Lucy Knisley method of making my own sketchbooks out of bristol paper that I cut and hole-punched and held together with binder rings, but i eventually stopped because it just felt like it was taking up too much space? or something. As usual, going back through the stack I found so many good ones, and it made me feel ONCE AGAIN that I should start a consistent sketchbook practise. (what is it when you consistently realize three years after the fact that what you were doing at the time was actually good? could it be…. THE NEED TO APPRECIATE THE PRESENT MOMENT? Anyway.)
Here are my favourites, some of which made me laugh out loud.
